Do you ever discover something you know will be great, even before it is even built? That’s how I felt about Cuyuna Cove when I stumbled on their page on Instagram almost a year ago. I have followed them through their build and first open season and then to my luck I was able to stay at their amazing cabins this fall.
Chris and Kelsey are as real as you can find them and you can tell the passion they have for Cuyuna Cove even if you don’t meet them – just take one look around the cabins! Every thing you could ever want or need for a mini escape is there. There were no details sparred and every single thing had it’s purpose and place.
Located 2 hours from the Twin Cities right outside of the town of Crosby, these hideaway cabins are one of the best gems I’ve found around Minnesota. The Cuyuna area itself is definitely making a name this year as people are flocking to get away for the weekend and discover something new! While I wholeheartley recommend visiting Cuyuna, you can’t complete your visit without staying at Cuyuna Cove!
Providing a northern adventure unlike anywhere else, Cuyuna Cove is perfect for anyone. It’s geared toward the modern outdoor enthusiast and even though I wouldn’t fully consider myself that, I had the most magical time and would book again in a heartbeat.

Drive up to beautiful black cabins all in a row and find a parking spot right across the way from your cabin. Having a keyless entry, it’s so slick and easy to “check-in” to start your vacation immediately! Walk in to the sweet smell of fresh wood as the sun streams in through the floor to ceiling windows. Take a little peak around your room and catch the cozy Pendleton Wool blanket on the bed, the beautiful drink ware from West Elm, and the warming salt lamp in the bathroom. You’ll notice everything has a purpose and a place, making it a truly fuss free stay! Head out to your private balcony to catch a glimpse of the pond and see if you can spot the 2 fire pits on the property too.

I actually ventured here on a solo retreat for 3 days and I HANDS DOWN suggest booking it if you every wanted to do a solo retreat! It was a great way to unplug and relax. (You can always adjust how “unplugged” you want to be – they do have great wifi so of course I had to sneak in a little Hocus Pocus!) During the day I explored the town and would take little breaks to come rest at my little cove :). I stayed in the Louise Cabin if you were wondering fun fact – The cabins were named after the mine pits in the area! At night, you can see the property lined with lights, that will guide you to your cabins and to the two fire pits on property. If you take a stroll though the property, you can see they are working on more projects for 2021! Glamping anyone? 😉

If you’re social, I highly suggest hanging by the fire (either started by you or others) and get to know the other guests in the cabin! And maybe share your s’more stash with them too. Luckily you can find roasting sticks in your cabin! When the fire fizzles out, head back to your cabin for a cozy night of sleep only to awake to one of the best views, straight from your bed.
Have a slow morning and brew the dogwood coffee in your cabin and take a moment to soak it all in – and ask yourself when was the last time you were this relaxed?
While you could have an amazing unplugged weekend at Cuyuna Cove only, there are some fun things to do in and near town too! In case you were wondering, these cabins are year round too – just take a peek at how cozy this property looks after the first snow fall! (Captured by Kelsey!) Whether you’re wanting a girlfriend getaway, solo retreat, or romantic weekend – Make Cuyuna Cove top of your list!
