Country House Resort – Door County, Wisconsin

A trip to Door County is something I look forward to every year now, especially in the summer and fall! And as these trips are fairly new to me, I’m still scoping out great places to stay in Door County, but I have to tell you I found a true gem for your next visit! While every trip to Door County is magical, my most recent stay at the County House Resort was the cherry on top. While on most trips we are always go go go, the County House Resort was the perfect place to relax and enjoy some slow and quiet time during our trip!

Location

Located in the historic village of Sister Bay, this family-owned, secluded, and quiet resort sits on 27 wooded acres with breathtaking views of the water. Enjoy their 1,100 feet of private shoreling as well as their nature trail that leads around the property and into town too!  I personally love how it’s close to town, but it’s still tucked away about 1/4 mile off Highway 42 so you really get that privacy too during your stay. One unique thing about this place is it’s Adults only! (Ages 13+) Oh, and it’s dog friendly too! 🙂

Upon arrival, the friendly staff will greet you with freshly baked goodies and hand off your keys. During our stay, we had a 1 queen bedroom water view, and it was perfect for the two of us! Walk into an updated room, with fresh new decor, wallpaper, furniture, and a brand new TV. (more on that later!) But the best part is the private balcony off the room with stunning views of the gardens, water fountains, and best of all a sweeping view of the water overlooking Sister Bay!

Resort Amenities

I have to say, Country House Resort really offers everything you could ever possibly need for an amazing stay. Start your mornings off with a full hot breakfast in the main building, where they offer fresh fruit, eggs, pastries, coffee, yogurt, and much more, then take it outside to enjoy it amongst the beautiful fountain and flowers out front! Take a stroll down the nature path to discover the private dock and shoreline below. Sit enjoy views of the water, slide into a kayak from your own private kayak launch, or keep walking the nature trail where it leads right into Sister Bay! Country House offers free kayak and bike rentals for guests to use so you have many accessible ways to explore Door County.

After you’ve explored around a bit, come back and enjoy the outdoor pool or hot tub. Slip into your swimsuit and throw on one of the plush and luxurious robes you have in your room to enjoy some water time! The hot tub has great views of the sunset over the bay too. The one thing I always looked forward to after a full day of exploring, was coming back to the Country House and enjoying time by the fire and playing lawn games too! Horseshoes, shuffleboard, you name it – they have it! We lucked out with some great weather so we could enjoy the property in its entirety!

Rooms

While it was just Eric and me for this trip, Country House has several room options for you! They offer 10+ different rooms and their price points are great. Our room was actually one of the smallest they offer, but it was the absolute perfect size for us, as we stayed for 5 days! I loved the modern decor with local-inspired art, an extremely comfortable bed, and the storage too! There was plenty of space for us to store our belongings. For people who like to enjoy their favorite shows on vacation (aka me!), they make it SO easy for you to bring your own Firestick or similar to connect to the TVs in the room. We connected our Firestick and were watching the Office within minutes 🙂 But if are more of a movie fan – they have an epic DVD Library in the main office to rent from! I was pleasantly surprised to see SUCH a great selection of movies.

Surrounding Area

Whether you’re up for an adventure or just want to relax, Country House really is a great choice. I have to say the location was perfect for everything we wanted to do, but I loved coming back to such a secluded and quiet space! You can take the nature trail into town, or if you head out the main driveway you will find the Peach Barn Brewery right next door. We loved their space and enjoyed their beer and brought some back to the County House too! You are just minutes from downtown Sister Bay too where you can grab a coffee in the morning at Skip Stone Coffee Roasters, take a workout class at Door County Fitness Studio, or shop at the local boutiques.
