Even though the name is Afton, this awesome patch is located in Hastings! Start here at Afton Apple in the morning or early afternoon and pop in to pick some berries! They are open daily 7am-3pm but make sure to call about an hour head just in case – on buys days they sometimes get picked out! It’s a great spot for all ages. They have animals on the property too so before or after picking make sure to say hi to the donkeys, llamas, and goats. Head to the main cashier and you’ll spot the Berry Barn! Their menu is chock-full with berry goodness. Think milkshakes, donuts, lemonade, and waffles – all from strawberries! Once you’re finished, take a quick 12 min drive into town!

You know I always have to have my daily lattes so when I drove by this new spot, I had to stop! It sadly opened 2 days before the entire COVID shut down but is not re-open for business! Once an old salon, the new owner has transformed Froth and Cork into a cozy gathering spot that’s perfect for small or large groups. They have an upstairs, main level, patio, and back room too! It’s huge! Enjoy a coffee in the morning or come back for a glass of wine in the afternoon! They serve small nibbles throughout the day too.

On a hot summer day, all I want is a tasty margarita. I definitely got my fix on the patio at Lock and Dam Eatery! Head straight to their patio and enjoy a great view of the water and bridge! We had some delicious fresh chips and salsa along with their firecracker shrimp and burrito. It’s a great option if you’re looking for a fun view and a diverse menu!

Whether you’re a hiker or not, make sure to head to Vermillion Falls Park for some eye catching falls! Park farthest to the left and head out on the paved path and immediately you’ll hear the falls along the mill! It’s absolutely breathtaking. You can keep hiking down to get down by the river – just be careful, some of the trails are steep! Keep going along and you’ll see the lock bridge. If you remember, bring your own lock and put it on the bridge! 🙂
